Spring 2025 new releases
We recently bottled almost one thousand cases of new wines and they are tasting great. Over the last two weekends we sampled these wines in the tasting room with everyone who came to visit. Here is a quick look at each.
Winter following a vintage is the perfect time to get the new rosés in bottle and we have both the 2024 Bolter and the 2024 PFM. Bolter is our signature blend of Pinot Noir and Tannat; this year it is 60% Pinot and 40% Tannat. A gorgeous salmon color, the Bolter is very reminiscent of last year’s spectacular wine. Subtle differences are there but there is no doubt this is a fun, drinkable Volatus wine. I expect the wine to be a favorite as temperatures warm up this spring and summer.
The 2024 PFM is another great example of a white wine made from red grapes. As you know, almost all red wine grapes have clear juice and we try to limit the color extraction from the skins during the pressing of the Grenache used for PFM. The 24 reminds me of the 2022 vintage; ripe, juicy, and so drinkable. The nose is Fruit Stripe gum (the recently discontinued candy with a zebra on the package) and juicy fruit flavors. Rounder than last year, this is a perfect hot tub wine right now. A recent taster suggested the hot tub usage!
On the red side, we are happy to start bringing you the balance of the insanely good 2023 vintage. So far, we released the 23 Dolcetto and Pinot Noir, both on the lighter side. The big boys are now here with the 2024 Long Way Home Tempranillo, Low Observable Petite Sirah, Bloody Well Right Tannat, and the new to us Jailbreak Graciano. I am already loving these wines. They are young but are balanced and ready to drink. If you have the patience, you could easily cellar these for 7-10 years or more.
I will give a more detailed description of each of the new reds with some tasting notes and video soonest.
